Be ready for the release party of the twelfth issue of Uncertain States Scandinavia at Shoot Gallery celebrated with a 5 DAY EXHIBITION of artists presented in the paper.
It is a great pleasure to introduce you to the artist-led project Uncertain States Scandinavia. UCSS publishes and distributes a free quarterly broadsheet newspaper showing lens-based-art. The curation of each issue is based on submissions from emerging artists in Scandinavia. UCSS was formed in 2016 by Tor Simen Ulstein, Astrid Gjersøe Skåtterød and Charlie Fjätström. Uncertain States Scandinavia is an offspring from Uncertain States London England, formed 2009 by Fiona Yaron-Field, David George and Spencer Rowell.
The Twelfth Issue
This issue’s characteristic is the working theme “Subjectively Objective”. Helge Skodvin was invited to give his opinion on the content and ponders over what his favourite subject to photography is:
“Sannheten er at jeg ikke vet hva jeg liker å fotografere. Eller kanskje jeg vet, men hvis jeg sier hva jeg liker å fotografere så blir det så banalt at det mister all sin verdi. Det blir så platt. Så simpelt. Jeg kunne sagt ‘biler’ Men er det sant? Liker jeg å fotografere biler?” Read the conclusion on page 2 (also in English).
The sales exhibition includes works of
Tor S. Ulstein
Katharine MacDaid
Anne Lass
Kristoffer Kråkstad
Sofie Sund
Dagny Hay
Karen Pettersen
Charlie Fjätström
Following what we imagine will be a lovely summer breeze of an evening with drunk artists, collectors and other interestees meeting together and chatting, is a four days sales exhibition in the gallery's main room.
Opening Hours:
Tuesday 23 June - Friday 26 June 12:00 - 16:00
We are anticipating good weather, chilled drinks and art loving people like you. See you in Balders Gate 28.
Cheers,
Uncertain States Scandinavia
